Corrieshalloch Gorge and the Falls of Measach |
||||||
| This fantastic mile-long gorge is over 60 m (200 ft) deep. The river plunges 46 m (150 ft) over the Falls of Measach. You can also walk over the suspension bridge over the gorge which was built by John Fowler (1817-98), he was also a joint designer of the Forth Railway Bridge. There is also a viewing platform that provides an excellent vantage point looking up towards the spectacular falls. I have to admit that some of these photographs had to be taken by my wife, Theresa (the lady in the pictures) as I was just too scared to walk over the suspension bridge and take the photograph (ok I know that none of you will be this "feert", however you do need a head for heights. Photographs below (click to enlarge). |
